Did you Know that...
Introducing two new Board members

We are happy to announce that Eric Buckley and John Andruszkiewicz are now members of our Board of Directors. Both are teachers at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School and will be assets to the Society.
Felton Family Reunion ……… Once again this July, members of the Felton family held their annual reunion at the Felton Houses at Brooksby. This reunion of the descendants of one of Peabody’s founding families has taken place at the Felton Family Homestead for many years. Feltons often come from great distances to attend. This year those attending were amazed at the work that we have done at the Felton Sr. House, i.e. repair of the many windows, wallpapering and painting in part of the interior as well as repairs to the back door, to mention a few improvements. They all agreed that their ol’ homestead never looked better. We thank Barbara Doucette for acting as a liaison between the Society and the Feltons and for contributing to the success of the occasion.

No Summer Vacation for our Curators

The curators and their assistants have been busy this summer inspecting our records regarding proper cataloguing of the thousands of items in our collections. Proper record keeping requires that each item be given a number and that basic information on the item be recorded, such as what it is, who donated it and when, where it is housed, its connection to Peabody, etc. Experience has taught us how easy it is for information to be misplaced or not recorded at all. Curator Assistant Pat Thorne is inventorying items currently housed in the Felton Jr. House. We are glad that this project is finally being addressed since part of the Society’s mission is to collect items related to Peabody’s past.
