How to Apply

The submission deadline for all applications is Friday, March 31, 2017. To apply for the Shaw and Metropolis scholarships, download and complete the George and Rachel Shaw Scholarship Form or the Andrew Metropolis History Scholarship Form, and return it to the Peabody Historical Society. Application forms may also be picked up at Society Headquarters, 35 Washington Street, Peabody, Monday-Friday, 10 am – 3 pm, or mailed upon request.

George and Rachel Shaw Scholarship

The George & Rachel Shaw Scholarship is administered annually by the Peabody Historical Society and funded by Sylvia & Ralph Marble. The scholarship award is $2500.00. To be eligible, a student must fulfill the following requirements: (1) be a resident of Peabody; (2) be completing his or her sophomore year in college or beyond; and, (3) be a full-time college student carrying at least twelve credits per semester.

Andrew Metropolis History Scholarship

The Peabody Historical Society awards a $2500 scholarship to a graduating Peabody Veterans Memorial High School senior who plans to pursue a career involving history, museum studies, historic preservation, or political science. This scholarship honors Peabody Historical Society’s Board Member and Historian, and former history teacher Andrew Metropolis. Metropolis’ unique style of teaching history inspired many of his students to pursue careers in history-related fields.

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Ambrazavitch Scholarship

Given in memory of Lt. Col. Ambrazavitch it is an award of $1000.00 given by Mrs. Louise Ambrazavitch. Applicants must be a Peabody Veterans Memorial High School graduating senior who has participated in the ROTC program at the high school. Applications are available at the high school guidance counselor’s office.
